Hydrate Hope is working on a collaborative Bio-Sand filter project based out of Dar es Salaam, TZ. Through our partnership with Thirst Relief International, we are working to provide safe, clean water solutions to the slums surrounding Dar es Salaam and rural areas of Tanzania as well. Through working locally, this project is not only impacting the lives of thousands on a monthly basis, it is providing jobs and income for dozens of workers involved as well. Clean water and economical growth…an awesome combination.
This project is also serving as a pilot program to test the likelihood of integrating a micro-enterprise element into the mix. If we can work toward creating sustainable profit from the subsidized sale of filters in urban settings, we can offset cost and sustain more work in rural regions.
